Birth and debut album

 

Memoira was born in 2007 by Jani Puusa, Marko Heurlin, Timo Fetula, Lassi Nuolivaara & Jussi Lamminharju, after being known as Serene for 6 years. The band had gone an overhaul change in music and had parted ways with their former vocalist Maija Saari, now replaced by Jemina Pitkälä. After a couple months of writing, the band began recording their debut album. After a year of recording, mixing, and mastering the album, Memoira released their self-titled debut album on August 19, 2008 vial Nightmare Records. The debut album also featured a single from the track Liberation, which was also made into a music video.

The music video for Liberation was entered into the Garage Countdown competition where it placed second. In 2010 it was announced through Nightmare Records that Memoira's debut album was one their highest selling record.

Sophomore Album and New Vocalist

In 2010, while writing the bands sophomore album, vocalist Jemina Pitkälä was let go from the band, which led to a world wide search for a new vocalist.

 

On Feburary 1, 2010, the band announced that Kati Rantala had been chosen as the new lead vocalist.

With a new vocalist, the band began work on their new album. After a long period of time writing and arranging the band finally hit the studio to record their sophomore album.

On July 24, 2012 Marko Heurlin was let go and replaced by Jarkko Kokko.

 

On November 1, 2013 the band released their new album Memories, Tragedies, Masquerades as a self-release, introducing more progressive and technical approach to song writing. After one year of touring their home country of Finland, the band decided to go into a hiatus.

Hiatus and Comeback: New Line-up 2014-2018

In 2018 after a 4 year hiatus the band was reformed by Jani Puusa and Lassi Nuolivaara. The line-up was completed with vocalist Annika Jalkanen,  bassist Niko Laaksonen and drummer Matti Virtanen.
On December 3rd 2018, the band released a new single Dawn Of Time and a brand new music video. The band returned to the stages on December 1st for a well received comeback.

After the success of the single Dawn Of Time the band began to write new music for an upcoming new 3rd album. On May 26th 2019 the band released a new single Queen Element before heading out for summer festivals. On August 2nd Memoira had their biggest show yet on Porispere 2019 Festival. The performance brought more eyes and ears to the band on mainstream level than ever before.

 

On the Fall of 2019 the band began to write and record new music for the new upcoming 3rd album.

Global Pandemic and the 3rd album 2019-2020

On 2020 the world would stop still. A pandemic would sweep across the world that left a permanent mark on entertainment industry. COVID-19. This would put on hold on many things that were planned in 2019, including gigs, touring and festivals. Human contact was to be avoided and crowds could not assemble, as the world would begun to shut down. Despite it all, it gave the band more time to focus on writing a new album. On May 17th 2019 Hannu Lindholm joined the band as a second guitarist.

 

On July 29th 2020 the band released a new single and a music video titled Carnival Of Creation and made the announcement that they had signed with Inverse Records to release the long awaited third album. The 3rd album Carnival Of Creation was set to be released on September 25th 2020.

 

On August 26th 2020 the band released a new single and a video for Shooting Star to promote the upcoming new album. The single gained a lot of praise from critics and fans alike.

 

On September 25th 2020 the third album Carnival Of Creation was released through Inverse Records. The album was well received amongst fans and critics and gave more world wide exposure to the band. The band also signed a world wide booking and management deal with JVR Agency OY and moving forward with upcoming album promotion, booking and touring plans.

 

On October 10th 2020 the band held it's first livestream Q & A with fans from all over the world, featuring merch giveaways and chatting.

 

On November 6th 2020 the band announced Carnival Of Creation Live Stream, where the band would play the entire Carnival Of Creation album back to back. The livestream would be air on January 30th 2021 live on YouTube.

Paradigm Shift in Memoira 2021-2022

On January 30th 2021 Carnival Of Creation was aired on live YouTube and was praised by people from all over the world. The fans were also able to buy the footage with the help of supporting tickets to receive a full concert as a downloadable link and behind the scenes material. After the concert the band would return to focus on writing new material as the pandemic was still raging on cancelling all live shows.

 

On March 17th Guitarist Jani Puusa made an announcement on Facebook that he had decided to quit the band. Puusa told in his announcement seeing differently on many things with the band and that it was his time to step out. He also continued thanking his family, friends and fans as well as all the members left in Memoira.

 

On June 20th it was announced that Matti Virtanen had left the band to focus more on his family and work. The band also announced their new drummer Kimmo Puhakka and that the band would continue as a five-piece. On August 1st the band announced that they would enter the studio to record a follow up for Carnival Of Creation

On October 15th, Memoira released a new single, "Phoenix" through JVR Music Group. The single was released on all major streaming platforms. The single was received with great reviews and has over 140 000 streams on Spotify. The band also produced a music video directed by Hannu Karppinen. "Phoenix" quickly became the most listened and streamed track of the band.

 

 On November 5th, the band left on tour w/ Averlanche in support of their latest release. FEMALE FRONTED METAL NIGHT- tour carried through November and December.

 

On December 17th, Memoira released a single "Coupe Du Graal" through JVR Music Group and it was released in all major streaming platforms. It was also accompanied by a Lyric Video made by Ayeyusif which was release on Christmas Eve. Both new singles got to be featured on official Spotify playlists.

Post Pandemic 2022-

On February 18th, the single "Phantom Insomnium" is released through JVR Music Group on all major streaming platforms. The single was accompanied by a music video directed by Arto Lindholm. 

On March 9th JVR AGENCY announces continuation for FEMALE FRONTED METAL NIGHT- tour, now featuring Memoira, Averlanche and Dorothy Polonium.

On March 11th, the band announced a major show and return to their "hometown" of Pori, Finland. The show would be held at Kehräämö- venue on May 17th. The show would also be shot for a future DVD release.

On July 8th, the band announces that Hannu Lindholm is leaving the band to focus more on his family and work. The band launches an online search for a new guitarist. Serdar Ilter is chosen to be the new guitarist.

On August Memoira & JVR AGENCY mutually ended their business relationship.

​

On July 25th the band announced Serdar Ilter as their new guitarist. Also the band announced multiple touring dates including the remaining dates of FEMALE FRONTED METAL NIGHT- tour alongside with Averlanche & Dorothy Polonium.

​

On October 28th the band released a new single and music video "AUTUMN'S HEART" through JVR Music Group on all major streaming platforms. The single was accompanied by a music video directed by Juuso Luntamo & Ville Ketonen.

​

On January 2023 the band announced they would be taking time off from the road to focus on song writing and pre-production of the new upcoming material.

Show Must Go On

On January 2023 the band finished the FEMALE FRONTED METAL NIGHT TOUR with Averlanche & Dorothy Polonium afterwards returning to write new material for upcoming releases.

On March 9th announced their only show for the Summer to be at VUOKATTI MOTOR SHOW @ Vuokatti Arena on July 8th.

On April 21st the band announced that Annika Jalkanen would be leaving the band the following Summer after the Vuokatti Arena show on July 8th. This would come as a shock for the fans, but the band had known this for a while. The band begun a worldwide search for a new vocalist the same day the news broke out.

On July 8th the band played their final show with Annika Jalkanen and had a warm farewell.

The New Queen

On July 6th 2023, the band announced that the search for the new vocalist had been concluded and on August 30th the band announced that they have entered the studio to record an upcoming single with the new vocalist.On September 22 2023 the band announced KRISTA ASTRID SCHRÖTER as their new vocalist and the title of the new single “CRYONIC HEART”. The band also stated that Schröter had been chosen from over 30 applications. The band also announced upcoming tour dates w/ Segmentia, Dorothy Polonium & Vanguardian.

On October 14th the band did their first live show with their new vocalist Krista Astrid Schröter and her performance was well received among the fans.
On January 13th 2024 The band announced that they were on the set shooting a music video for their upcoming single.

On February 7th the band announced a NEW JEWELRY LINE in cooperation with HENNAK jewelry design studio. The line would consist of pendants, earrings and bracelets.

On February 23rd CRYONIC HEART is released accompanied by a music video produced by SOFNEON AUDIOVISUAL. It was the first release featuring both Serdar Ilter & Krista Astrid Schröter. On the following day February 24th, the band announced more tour dates in support of their newest single.

On February 19th the band released a picture on their INSTAGRAM account from the studio as they were recording new material as a follow up for CRYONIC HEART.

On April 20th the band announced SIRENS OF METAL – tour concept that would feature female fronted bands including Memoira, Segmentia and Averlanche.

On May 31st the band announced their upcoming single EMERALD EYES to be released on June 7th.

EMERALD EYES was released on July 7th accompanied by a lyric video made by MARTIN V.S.

On June 29th the band announced more SIRENS OF METAL – tour dates.
